IPL Photofacial, also known as Fotofacial or Skin Rejuvenation, is a cosmetic procedure designed to produce younger and healthier looking skin. A variety of skin conditions, such as red complexion, rosacea, fine lines, wrinkles, large pores, freckles and pigmented spots can be treated using intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy.
These skin conditions are often caused by aging, sun exposure, genetic predisposition, and other factors.
Pigmented spots and areas of redness selectively absorb the intense pulsed light delivered by our elos®
platform, resulting in cosmetic improvement, without peeling or
burning. The skin rejuvenation process will leave the skin with a
clear, glowing, youthful appearance – making this one of our most
popular procedures.
Do you think that the reflection you see in the mirror each morning matches the way you feel? Many patients wish that there was a safe, easy and quick way to get rid of their red complexion, fine wrinkles, irregular pigmentation and large pores. Photofacial is one of our most exciting anti-aging services. Photofacial of the face and body produces even-toned skin that looks more youthful.
Photofacial can erase skin damage and treat a variety of skin conditions, such as:

Skin Rejuvenation/IPL Photofacial FAQ
Q. What Is IPL Photofacial/Fotofacial?
A. A photofacial, or “fotofacial,” is a 60-minute procedure in which intense pulses of light are used to penetrate deep into the skin. IPL photofacial then causes collagen and blood vessels below the epidermis to constrict, reducing redness and age lines. The procedure involves only minimal discomfort, while the redness and swelling that sometimes occur after treatment disappear shortly. Most benefits of a photofacial/fotofacial occur gradually in the weeks following treatment.
Q. Who is an ideal candidate for the IPL Photofacial procedure?
A. IPL photofacial can be used to treat redness caused by acne, rosacea, hyper pigmentation, and facial capillaries, as well as the fine lines and wrinkles caused by aging or sun damage. And if your skin has been discolored as a result of smoking, alcohol use, or hormonal changes, an IPL photofacial/fotofacial can smooth and refine your complexion. Please call us to make your free consultation appointment to evaluate your eligibility for this popular procedure.
Q. Is there any down time associated with IPL photofacial procedure?
A. IPL photofacial involves relatively little discomfort and no downtime. Unlike many laser techniques, the procedure is non-ablative, meaning no skin is removed during treatment. This contributes to the easy recovery and low risk associated with the IPL photofacial/fotofacial, while allowing patients to return to their everyday routine immediately. After treatment the skin may look a little flushed. The flushed look will soon fade away leaving the skin looking younger and rejuvenated.
Q. How does IPL Photo rejuvenation work?
A. During IPL™ photo rejuvenation treatment, high energy light waves are used to reduce or eliminate many common effects of aging, including facial wrinkles and skin discolorations. IPL™ light also encourages the production of collagen, a natural protein that fills in wrinkles, making the skin smooth and supple. With each treatment, the results of IPL™ photo rejuvenation become more pronounced. Five full-face IPL™ photofacial/fotofacial sessions spaced 3-4 weeks apart are normally required for optimal results.
Q. How often do I need IPL Photofacial treatment?
A. At Seattle Beautiful Skin, we recommend a package of 5 sessions 3-4 weeks apart.
To maintain your new healthy overall appearance, we recommend 3-4 touch ups per calendar year.
Q. How long does IPL Photofacial last?
A. The longevity of IPL™ photo rejuvenation results will largely depend on you, results last as long as you maintain proper skin care. Overall, patients can expect up to a 70% improvement in pink and brown discolorations, 50-70% improvement in the appearance irregular skin texture, and large pores, with a 40-70% improvement in the appearance of fine and moderate wrinkles.
Q. Can I make a same day appointment for either consultation and/or treatment?
